PHBA offers its members many business services, including but not limited to customer referrals, information, networking, consumer conciliation and various types of insurance and business service discounts.
PHBA through its affiliation with the Home Builders Association of Virginia offers highly competitive workers compensation and health insurance group programs. Associates have access to builder contact lists as well as numerous advertising and promotional opportunities. Occasional group discount purchasing arrangements are offered to members. Research can be performed using PHBA linkages with NAHB and HBAV.
By speaking with a single voice for the apartment, remodeling and home building industry, PHBA provides an identity for its members. PHBA maintains a Code of Ethics, and is a source of referrals to consumers seeking a builder, remodeler or apartment community. Through PHBA, members achieve an image as professionals, accepted by their peers as responsible members of the housing industry. PHBA also hosts two major promotional events.
In addition to its networking opportunity, PHBA provides basic education to members through seminars, training courses, its monthly newsletter, informational mailings and programs at general membership meetings. PHBA also sponsors courses accredited toward the Registered Apartment Manager (RAM), Certified Leasing Professional (CLP), Institute of Residential Marketing (MIRM) and Certified Site Professional (CSP) designations offered by the National Association of Home Builders. For more information about the education and information PHBA provides, visit our various News, Info & Issues pages, our Events page or our Councils page.
PHBA, HBAV and NAHB provide a comprehensive program of representation for its membership, at the local, state and federal levels. PHBA articulates our member's opinions into a single industry voice on issues. Within PHBA committee and board structures, issues can be identified, actions determined and results tracked. Member's influence is enhanced at state and federal government levels through active PHBA participation in the Home Builders Association of Virginia and the National Association of Home Builders. PHBA is known and respected for reasoned, responsible and well researched policy statements.
Voting is not enough in today's political environment. A well funded political action committee complemented by a well-organized grassroots network are a must in voicing industry concerns to elected officials. When elected officials realize that their PHBA constituents are well informed about industry related issues and are interested and concerned enough to take action, PHBA's governmental effectiveness increases significantly. PHBA's Political Action Committee for affordable Housing (HOMEPAC) provides the basis upon which our governmental activities are built. It endorses and supports candidates for state and local office who are sympathetic to the concept of housing affordability and the shelter needs of their constituency; it informs the membership on what candidates have embraced this concept; and it fosters the vital relationships our members need to help make our industry successful.
As a PHBA member you can proudly display the PHBA logo and link from your website to PHBA's website. To learn how to do this, please visit our "Members Only" section.
PHBA serves as a business referral source for apartment owners, builders and remodelers, and those associated firms selling directly to the public. PHBA responds to consumer inquiries, through database referrals given by telephone and on the internet. PHBA also serves the public with referral information through its Parade of Homes and Home and Garden Expo.
Networking is PHBA's most important business opportunity. Members learn from each other, exchange information, and sell, buy and make business arrangements. Networking takes place at monthly general membership meetings, council meetings, and our many committee meetings and social events. Please check our events page for information on past and upcoming business opportunities.
